Stop 17 Fitzroy

Inclusive Venue checklist

Sharing the research to make our lives easier

Date: Jan 2017

Venue: Stop 17 Fitzroy

Ph: 03 9042 5777

Purpose: Café, breakfast , brunch and tapas bar. Writers room.

Service: 4

(1 – 5 with 1 being “less than desirable” and 5 being “we’ll be back”)

Parking: easy for us on Charles Street to allow me to be helped out from front passenger side of car and into manual wheelchair but it was Christmas holidays and very quiet for Fitzroy. I’m not too confident in the amount of truly accessible parking in the area.

Public Transport: There are trams traveling along Smith St

Seating: there are a few tables and easily moveable chairs in the main, accessible, section of the Café.

Steps: Flush entry but steps into the toilets and writers room.

Bathroom Accessibility: Due to the stairs I didn’t investigate these facilities

Additional Comments:

I was in my manual wheelchair and I think a power chair would be fine as well. We had a lovely breakfast served by friendly and vibrant staff. This was a lucky find for us and if you happen to be in the area I would recommend Stop 17 for the menu offering, staff friendliness and funky blue warehouse type of theme.

In busy times it may be a bit of a challenge to get accessible seating but I feel the staff would accommodate.
